This wasn’t supposed to be a lead magnet.
It started with a favor - building a list for someone who wasn’t even a client yet.
No plan, no post, no CTA. Just building in Clay.
And then I hit a wall:
How do you reliably find real buying signals?
Not vague intent. Not recycled “intent platforms.”
Real, observable signals — the kind that make you actually want to reach out.
That question kicked everything off.
🧠 The Realization
If you can use AI agents inside Clay
and they're cheaper than enrichment credits - why not train them to hunt for signals?
I stacked three agents like this:
Agent 1: suggested research expansion/funding/c-level hiring etc.
Agent 2: reads Agent 1’s results and expands with a second unique source
Agent 3: pulls a third layer of context by avoiding repeats
Then I added a fourth:
A content agent that didn’t search — it read.
It scanned everything the others found.
🧪 The Merge Formula
Claygent can’t read 3 separate columns well.
So I created a formula to merge all signals into one markdown block — line by line, structured for analysis.
Then I asked Claygent:
“Based on these signals, score this lead from 1–5 for outbound readiness. Explain why.”
Now I had structured signals, context, and a score — all auto-generated.
And I realized:
This shouldn’t sit in my Clay board. It should be shared.
🛠 Turning It Into a Lead Magnet
Cool workflows don’t share themselves.
So I rebuilt the setup as a clean, usable template:
One table
Inputs ready
Slack + API keys pluggable
Just add a domain → get signal → get score → route lead
Then I turned it into a Notion SOP, built graphics, wrote copy, made a thumbnail — and for the first time, built a lead magnet landing page worth landing on.
🎬 The Scroll-Style Video
The next challenge: How do I show this visually without filming myself explaining it for 4 minutes?
So I learned how to:
Screen record
Speed up the right sections
Add timestamp-based text
Turn a build into a scroll-through demo
No mic. No face. Still worked.
🧨 The Launch
I posted it on LinkedIn.
Hook first. Value next. Video + link + thumbnail.
Not just “look what I made” — it was “here’s how you can use it.”
And the response? Way better than expected.
So now it’s archived here, permanently, as a volume in this lab log.
📁 Steal the Build
No gate. No pitch. Just something I wish existed when I was trying to figure this out.
